People complain about how Mang Inasal seems dirty, cheap and low class. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? I mean for those who complain, you paid for a 100 peso meal and you demand for service that's beyond what you can afford. Look, the only thing you can get from Mang Inasal is over eating and stomach cramps. Let me remind you that Mang Inasal is for the commoner, "PANG MASA". It means almost anyone can afford it, but it's not secluded to a certain class. They provide airconditioned rooms, TVs for entertainment, complimentary soups, free water and unlimited rice. It's safe to say that you're being served with more than what you paid for.
Two thumbs up for Mang Inasal. It's cheap, it's good, it serves more than what you paid for.

Burger Joint
Burger Joint is a restaurant that serves good food, good services and good presentations. The first time I went to the place, a friend and I decided to pass by the building to get fish ice cream from a Korean store near by. When we walked in, the place was packed with paintings, pictures, films and cameras and most of them are for sale. That caught my interest and made me stay. The food didn't really get my attention. But for the heck of it, I ordered. I basically tried everything they have in the menu. Let me highlight some of them.
Beef Burger: Really rich patty, it's really thick but it's not that greasy. the burger isn't really dry though. The taste stays in your mouth and you'll love it like that. I think the buns are made from pandesal but i swear, it does not jeopardize the taste of the burger. It gives me a Patriotic feel too.
Chicken Burger: Not really far from the beef burger. It still gives you the glory of eating a burger. The bonus part is, if you are weight conscious, it allows you to enjoy a wonderful burger without gaining much.
Fish and Chips: I'm not a fan of fish. 2 things I hate, Fish and Iced Tea. This meal is designed for 2 people to share but I hog them to myself. This basket of fish and chips broke my record of fish dislikes. The fish is deep fried to be so soft and equally cooked offering a continuous flavor and consistent texture. A dip of tartar sauce is served together with the fish and chips. To top it off, 2 cups of either iced tea or coke are served so they just defeated my weakness in iced tea by providing a substitute.
Super Dawg: Super fits the name. It's huge, it's good and it makes you want for more. I dont know if they used a different kind of frankfurter or they used a regular hotdog and cooked it in a different way. If you want a challenge, try finishing this without asking your friend to finish it for you. I swear, this is huge, the bun is a non-traditional type so it's softer and the texture suits the meat. Topped with a whole lot of cheese grated in small soft portions.

Spaghetti in Meat Sauce: The underdog in the meNew. This is delicious, when I first had this, I totally forgot that I was with someone. She hated me for telling her how delicious it was. The taste was absolutely equal. Ever notice how filipino spaghetti is really sweet, and like italian spaghetti is like tomato sour? This one is sitting on top of the thin line between those two tastes.
Therefore, I swear to becoming one of Burger Joint's regular customers. I hope the readers of this will have the same experience.

Cafet Cristina gets the triple A
First A: Awesome
The food is spectacular. The quality, the taste, the preparation on the plate, they're all magnificent. I wanted to order their steak because everyone ordered different meals but they were out so I tried the Arroz ala Cubana. I found the food really flavorful. I was prepared in a large plate, with a substantial amount of rice and a well cooked sunny side egg. The meal had a tall glass of iced tea with it, i never really drank it cause i don't drink iced tea. The meal did it's job. It satisfied my mouth and it filled my belly.
Second A: Awful
The service was down to earth awful. When we stepped in, we saw a few tables left. we were five so we thought of baring a table fit for 3 people and add some chairs. But like normal restaurants, they connect two tables together. When we were seated, we looked for the meals that we think would satisfy our hunger and when were going to order, the waitress ignored us. Completely ignored us multiple times. So I had to march to the counter and wait until someone would go out and take our order. I requested for water cause I told her that i don't drink iced tea. We sat down and waited for the orders and the moment I smelled the food, I knew they were worth the wait. As the waitress approached the table, she basically dropped the plates on the table with her bonus frowned face totally ruining a good meal presentation. After the orders arrived, I called the attention of a different waitress and asked for water which I mentioned to the other waitress. She immediately told the other waitress which deliver a very rude raise of eyebrow and make face. Very classy treatment to the customer indeed. Upon paying, we didn't have change so we gave her a 1000 peso bill. She stared at the bill and then looked back at us and complainingly said if we had a smaller bill. we all looked for a smaller bill, we had none so we told her. then she stared at us and said "wala?" like she really had to complain again.
Third A: Average
Cafe Cristina serves splendid cuisines but they really have to train their staff. They should know how to treat their customers even if they have to be plastic. Their people are pulling down the quality of Cafe Cristina.

AGENDA
I am a fanatic. "FOOD" top of the list of my likes written in my highschool yearbook. Not only is food a need, but it is a desire that satisfies the mouth connecting to the minds and hearts of every person who enjoy it. I look for the beauty in every dish served in front of me and search for the essence of it. Cooking is an art and a business. So a chef must always fight with his best bullet to win the customer or else he will have the pleasure of not seeing the face of that person ever again.
I write to impart to you my experiences in the different flavors around the Philippines. How I wish I could go beyond and enjoy the delights of the world but I am held by worldly limits. This will not serve as a warning but my agenda is to impart knowledge to the readers of this blog about my perspective on the great (and not so great) dishes of my mother land.
This will be your guide to the pampering of your taste buds. Thank you.
